In 2023, Gates awarded $17,000 in scholarships.  $10,000 were awards to Veterans and $7,000 to other automotive students.

The eligibility criteria are identical to the general UAF scholarship criteria:  Preference is given to students in or entering a full time post-secondary program at an accredited college or university or an ASE/NATEF certified automotive vocational school.  Applicants should be planning a career in the automotive aftermarket.
