The Tire Industry Association (TIA), established in 1921, is an international non-profit association representing all segments of the tire industry, including companies that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. TIA is the leading advocate as well as instructor in technical training of tire service technicians.

The mission of TIA is to promote tire safety through training and education, to act as the principal advocate in government affairs and to enhance the image and professionalism of the industry so that our member businesses may be more successful. TIA has members from all 50 states and around the globe.”

The TIA is proud to award 8 $2,500 scholarships this year, a grand total of $20,000.

TIA prefers applicants for their scholarships that meet these qualifications:

  • Pursuing a technical career in the tire industry and related tire service operations, covering all industry tire segments from passenger, light truck, commercial, industrial, farm and earthmover, including repair, retreading and recycling
  • Planning careers in the tire industry in such fields as sales, marketing, manufacturing, customer service, engineering, supply chain, IT, Business Administration, legal, regulatory, finance and so on.
  • Planning to attend or attending a full-time program at an accredited college or university, or an ASE/NATEF certified post-secondary automotive, collision, or heavy-duty technician training program.
  • Some awards are available to employees of automotive and tire companies and their family members, as well.
  • Candidates must have a 2.5 High School GPA to be considered
  • Candidates must list a TIA member individual or company in good standing in the “Aftermarket Affiliation Information / Sponsor Info section of the application (see below).
