The Hourglass Foundation Scholarship  

The Hourglass Foundation is the charitable arm of Hourglass Management Corp, an asset management company representing a portfolio of businesses in vehicle remarketing and automotive finance.

In 2016, Ron and Chad Shoemaker formed The Hourglass Foundation. Their vision is to provide financial opportunity to 1st gen and underserved students who wish to pursue a career in automotive.

Ron Shoemaker, the Founder of Hourglass Management Corp., and 30+ year veteran in the automotive industry whose companies include Flexco Fleet Services, www.flexcofleet.com and Tresl, www.mytresl.com.  Ron along with his son, Chad Shoemaker, the CEO for the companies, wanted to give back to the automotive industry that has blessed them in many ways as well help students. The Hourglass Foundations’ mission is to make a difference – Offering scholarships to students, many who are first generation students who wish to pursue a different path such as trade schools or community college focusing on automotive technology, engineering technology and skilled trade programs. The 4-year path is not for everyone. Everywhere you look you can see the gaps in the automotive industry, as well as skilled trade industries, which includes the fields of HVAC, Electrical, Construction. The Hourglass Foundation is driven to help students prepare for our tech-oriented world, there is “more than one path to a successful career and life”!

 Guidelines: Qualified applicants should be a U. S. graduating high school senior, or have a GED certificate.
Applicants should be enrolled in a trade school or community college program with focus on Auto Tech, Auto Mechanics, Engineering Tech or Skilled Trade Programs (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Construction).

Requirements:

• Minimum high school GPA of 2.5.
• Enrollment in one of the following areas of study Auto Technology, Auto Mechanic, or Engineering Tech
• Completed application
• 1 letter of recommendation
• Official school transcript
• Completed essay
• Listing of extracurricular/volunteer activities (if applicable).

Amount: Two (2) $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year.

Deadline: The application deadline is March 31, 2024.
